Wayne Davison received his Bachelor of Music in Education in 1990 from the State University College at Fredonia, and a Masters of Science in Remedial Reading fromSUNY Cortland in 1995.
While at Fredonia Wayne was the director of the all student run Fredonia Jazz Ensemble, and led the band to an Outstanding Big Band Award at the Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival, and a Gold Award at the Canadian National Music Festival the following year. During the FJE’s annual January tour of New York schools, Wayne had the opportunity to work with over 22 high school and college jazz ensembles as a clinician and guest conductor.
During his 16 years as a music teacher Wayne has conducted numerous all-county and Area All-State jazz ensembles across the state. Wayne has been active as a performer for the last 29 years, and has played saxophone and trumpet with such artists as Rob McConnell, The McGuire Sisters, The Tempatations,
The Box Tops, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Rich Little, and was a founding member of The Central New York Jazz Orchestra.
He can currently be heard playing with ADK Jazz, Wally Siebel’s All-Star Big Band, and the Adirondack Jazz Orchestra. He lives in Tupper Lake with his wife of 21 years, Laura, their two children, three cats, and two great danes.
