Trombone
Originally from Troy, NY, Michael Nystoriak began his study of the trombone in 4th grade. Upon
graduation from high school, Mike was accepted into the Crane School of Music’s Music Education program, at SUNY Potsdam where he studied trombone with Dr. Mark Hartman.
At Crane, Mike performed with the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble, as well
as the Crane Jazz Ensemble and various other performing groups. Michael Nystoriak was accepted to Arizona State University to complete his Master’s Degree in Music Performance with Gail Eugene Wilson.
Mike performs with Wally Seibel’s All Star Big Band, the Adirondack Wind Ensemble, and the Adirondack Jazz Orchestra. Mike has played behind Ray Vega, Ken Poplowski, Dennis Mackrel, Bret Zvacek, Michael Davis, Danny D’Imperio, Jay Leno, Jim Nabors, John Pizzarelli,
Dennis DiBlasio, Jim McNeely, Tony DeSare and others.
For the past sixteen years, Mike has been on the music faculty at Beekmantown High School where he teaches instrumental music and music theory. He is both a past president and the current vice president for the Clinton County Music Educator’s Association as well as an
adjudicator for the New York State School Music Association.
He currently resides in Saranac, NY where he lives with his wife, Susan and their two children,
Michael and Charlotte.
